Review:

Our issue begins on Earth, at the Promethea Headquarters, where we follow up on how Lord Zedd’s acquired his morpher. In addition, we see how becoming a Ranger has really upgraded Lord Zedd’s powers, besides just having a new appearance. However, from there the issue moves over to Safehaven where XI is interrogating Alpha-1 to learn Mistress Vile’s ultimate plan. Although, the bulk of their conversation breaks down to their perspectives of a sentient robot’s freedoms, and the current situation. Whereas, Trini and Zack discuss the burden of being the Red Ranger and leadership that comes with the role. Surprisingly, it is a quick conversation, but it is discussions like this that I enjoy seeing get addressed whenever possible. Especially, as it gives depth to the Rangers, and makes them relatable to actual people who dealing with similar concerns.

Anyway, as the Rangers at Safehaven work on Alpha-1, Tommy and Jason are trying to unwind back on Earth. Currently, the two are sparring at the Juice Bar, and they are further discussing the recent events plus Tommy’s decisions. Whereas, even though Jason is no longer a Ranger, both he and Tommy feel comfortable to talk Ranger Business. Specifically, Tommy since he is noticeably trying to juggling being the team’s leader, and his relationship with Kimberly. However, before they can continue with their conversation, they are interrupted by a familiar face attacking the Juice Bar. Also, the initial image that reveals the identity of the ‘individual’ leading this attack is pretty cool. So, without spoiling though, it features our ‘general’ with ki-like black smoke coming off their body with glowing red eyes. Overall, it presents an awesome menacing appearance that I assume Simona Di Gianfelice and Raúl Angulo were intending for.

Meanwhile, back on Safehaven, Kimberly is accepting her decision to have kept her team with the Omega Rangers. Yet, while Kim is dealing with her problems, Yale the cat-like alien, comes to comfort her like its Earth-based cousins. However, this touching scene is ruined when a breakthrough occurs with Alpha-1’s interrogation. During this period, Alpha-1 reveals that he was a diversion and that Mistress Vile wanted them cutoff from Earth. Whereas, as the team at Safehaven learn about this, Tommy and Billy have become fully aware of the issue. Unfortunately, for Tommy and Billy though, they are outnumbered and they are being overpowered by Mistress Vile’s new ally. Furthermore, their battle is just another diversion, as Mistress Vile has decided to raid the Promethea Headquarters.

Coincidentally, with Mistress Vile’s arrival to the base, Lord Zedd decides to spare Grace and goes to confront her instead. Upon their reunion the two exchange insults, but rather than fight Lord Zedd herself, Rita sends forth The Vessel instead. Also, I did like the remarks and jabs Rita had for Zedd during their encounter, especially towards his new form. Like it is simple, but it is solid dialogue that I enjoyed, and I thank Melissa Flores for this exchange. Whereas, regarding Zedd’s battle with The Vessel, he is very eager to reclaim his staff as Rita searches for Grace. Then as this issue ends, we get a reveal and an additional surprise that I was not expecting!

Now, in conclusion, everything continues to escalate within this current arc, and Rita’s plan is probably in its final phase. Currently, I assume the next issue will feature Rita/ Mistress Vile trying to begin bringing forth Dark Specter. As a result, everyone involved including Lord Zedd will have to work together to stop Rita moving forward. Whereas, for this issue’s ending, I love when reveals and surprises like this one actually catch the reader off guard. So, I hope that fans looking forward to the book remain spoiler free, and get to experience this for themselves. Although, I feel like some people within the Power Rangers’ fandom may have already speculated this specifics book’s ending. Anyway, I found Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #107 to be another solid entry within its overall run, and this arc. Also, as per usual, I still cannot wait to see how everything will unfold and be wrapped up. Nevertheless, I hope that next month’s issue will begin to turn the tide in favor of the Power Rangers’ victory!

Final Score: 4 out of 5 Power Coins
